Band Members:
Isaac Slade – Lead vocals
Joe King – Rhythm guitar and backing vocals
Dave Welsh – Lead guitar
Ben Wysocki – Drums

This band knew how to save a life; with genuinely written songs that tug at every heart strings, they were able to connect with people and on a few occasions might have saved someone’s life through their heartfelt songs. On June 21, 2012 prepare for a celebration of love, sorrow and life as THE FRAY gives Manila a one night of auditory pleasure.

Formed in 2002, American pop rock band from Denver, Colorado started as a worship band and was initially composed of Isaac Slade and Joe King then joined later on by Dave Welsh and Ben Wysocki. They made waves in 2005 with their breakthrough single “How To Save A Life”. The single reached Top 3 in the Billboards Hot 100 and was certified double platinum by RIAA. The album, How To Save A Life, where the same titled song came from also brought forth the hit “Over My Head (Cable Car)”. The band was then nominated for Grammy Awards for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or a Group and Best Rock Performance by a Duo or a Group in 2007. These singles propelled the band into commercial success and international recognition.

“How To Save a Life” was featured in the hit TV Series Grey’s Anatomy and Scrubs, making it one of the most played and widely recognized song in that 2006-2007. The song’s inspired lyrics came from an encounter Isaac Slade had with a boy with drug problems and realizing that all the boy need was support from his friends and family. People related so well with the song it opened up variety of interpretations, all in all, the song was able to touched the hearts of many and thus solidify The Fray’s ability to reach out to their audiences at a deeper level.

Their single “You Found Me” from their self titled sophomore album The Fray, debuted at #28 at the Hot 100 and peaked at #7. “Never Say Never” also from their second album was featured in the movie Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen, allowing them to increase their loyal fan following worldwide. With the release of their latest single the upbeat and ear friendly “Heartbeat” from their latest album Scars and Stories, The Fray once again displayed the emotional side of rock and their ability to connect to people.

The Fray’s musical approach is composed of piano driven, mid tempo tunes with a laidback feel. Their music is easy to listen to and the lyrics are highly relatable and heartfelt. Some compared the band to the likes of Coldplay and Keane primarily because of the piano driven tracks that leads into power ballads, though they cited The Wallflowers, Counting Crows and U2 as few of their influences. Isaac Slade vocal style gave The Fray the distinction it deserves. The band’s ability to render poetic, moving and sincere words into their songs is their strongest point, that and never lacking in melody and catchy hooks.

Be the first to witness The Fray’s first time performance here in Manila on June 21, 2012 at the new Mall of Asia Arena. For tickets visit www.smtickets.com or call 470-2222.

Jason Wade – Vocals, Rhythm Guitar
Ben Carey – Lead Guitar
Rick Woolstenhulme Jr – Drums

Expect another heartfelt performance from the band that gave us the hits “You and Me”, “Sick Cycle Carousel”, “First Time” and many more. Lifehouse live in Manila on May 26, 2012 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

It is not surprising that Lifehouse was able to maintain a solid fan base here in the Philippines. Starting with their hit single “Hanging by A Moment”, the band was able to capture the pulse of the Filipino: love for love songs. Though Lifehouse’s music may be classified as radio friendly rock songs, they were still able to catch the attention of ballad lovers here in the country. Lifehouse music centers on love, losing someone, faith, life and survival. Their songs contemporary and echoes sweet but concise sentiments that are easy to relate to.

Songs in their earlier albums also talks about faith and believing, which also added to their allure as Christian music. Their lyrics in “Take Me Away”, “Everything” and “Breathing” may be interpreted as an ode to God but their words were not imposing, it’s sweet, sentimental and moving. Lifehouse strength lies in their ability to effectively speak of feelings without sounding cheesy or forced. This type of songwriting gave them an edge over other alternative rock bands.

Catch another exquisite and remarkable performance and fall in love once again with Lifehouse. Lifehouse Live in Manila on May 26, 2012 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. Tickets are available at all Ticketnet outlets or call 911-5555 for more information.

Each song in Avenged Sevenfold’s latest album “Nightmare” has become an ode of praise and love to their brother, The Rev, who unexpectedly passed away during the making of the album. The band though halted by grief and sorrow, decided to continue on with finishing each tracks, channeling their pain into songs that will serve as their brother’s legacy to the world. The Rev was recently awarded in the second annual Revolver Golden God Awards as Best Drummer and the band received the award in his behalf. Being an astounding musician and extremely talented drummer, The Rev would be irreplaceable. Fans of Avenged Sevenfold would never forget the gift that The Rev shared through their music.

After deciding to complete the album “Nightmare”, the band brought it Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater to work on the drum tracks of the album. It seems justly appropriate to have Portnoy working on The Rev’s work since he considered him as one of his “drum idols”. He played The Rev’s drum tracks as how it would sound if The Rev himself was behind the drums. Portnoy was with Avenged Sevenfold for the duration of 2010. Afterwards, Arin Ilejay, formerly of metalcore band Confide, replaced Portnoy and continued playing for the band for the remainder of the tour.

Arin Ilejay, also came from a family of musician. His father, Ric Ilejay, of American and Filipino descent, was a professional guitar player while his mother was a gospel singer. Growing up under a variety of musical influence has given Arin the musical versatility that he has. He was recommended by A7X studio drum tech Mike Fasano and has impressed the band with his attitude, professionalism and work ethics. Avenged Sevenfold released the following statement in their official website last January 2011

“We recently asked several friends who knew Jimmy and his style, and also knew our music and each of our personalities to suggest drummers to tour with us starting this year. Our longtime studio drum tech Mike Fasano recommended Arin Ilejay. We’ve rehearsed with Arin and have been impressed with his technical skills, attitude and work ethic. We’re very excited to tour with Arin and hope all of you will give him the warm welcome to the family we have.”
Although Arin isn’t officially a member of the band, the band and fans the A7X has welcomed him as part of the family and shared a mutual pleasure in working with each other. Avenged Sevenfold recorded an single with Arin called “Not Ready to Die” which was featured on Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Feat. The Used, The Cab, Cobra Starship and Dashboard Confessional Chris Carraba LIVE IN MANILA

Let the summer mayhem begin as DAYLY Entertainment proudly brings: SMASH PROJECT 2012 feat. The Used, The Cab, Cobra Starship and Dashboard Confessional Chris Carraba. Four foreign bands on ONE stage for a night of rock induced energy, amplified further by local rock bands: Chicosci, Urbandub and Typecast.

Expect American rock band The Used to rock the Dome in this year’s first mini music festival. Formed in 2001, they rose to fame in 2002 after releasing their self-titled album. The band has sold 3 million records worldwide. The title of their second studio album, “In Love and Death” was in reference to frontman Bert McCracken’s personal tragedy during the recording of the album. “In Love and Death” received favorable reviews with three singles “Take It Away”, “All That I’ve Got” and “I Caught Fire”, gaining commercial recognition.

The Used’s rock music can be further described as Gross Pop – which was how Bert McCracken put it, saying,“In the past, we’ve always kind of brought pop sensibility into heavy rock, but this is going to be all that much more tantalizing and brutal. Our songs are 10 times messier and noisier than they’ve ever been. Quinn Allman said Gross Pop “[It's] gonna be pretty raw. I think a lot of the stuff is very much more poetic and lyrical, and the sound is more retro and raw with less production.” Members: Bert McCracken (vocals, piano, keyboards), Jeph Howard (bass), Quinn Allman (guitar), Dan Whitesides (drums)

The Used will be joined by Cobra Starship, an American synthpop band created by lead vocalist Gabe Saporta in 2003. Cobra Starship is known for their songs “Good Girls Go Bad” feat. Gossip Girl Leighton Meester and “You Make Me Feel…” from their “Night Shades” album.

Members: Gabe Saporta (vocals), Ryland Backington (guitars), Alex Suarez (bass), Nate Navarro (drums), Victoria Asher (keytarist)

Also joining the melee is American rock band The Cab. The band was proclaimed by Alternative Press magazine as one of the “100 Bands You Need to Know in 2010”. Their self-released album Symphony Soldier was hailed by critics as a “masterpiece” while its single entitled “Bad” received positive reviews from critics and listeners as well. The band, though relatively new, already has a solid base and is continuously gaining worldwide recognition with their fresh approach to rock music.

Band Members: Alexander De Leon (vocals), Alex Marshall (piano, guitar, backing vocals), Joey Thunder (bass)
Dashboard Confessional is also an American rock band who will be joining this summer’s rockfest on an acoustic set up. Led by singer-songwriter Chris Carraba, the band is known for their hit songs “Vindicated” (featured in the Spiderman 2 soundtrack), “Stolen” and “Belle of the Boulevard”. Their last album, “Alter the Ending”, showed maturity in terms of musicality and content. Fans of the band since 2000 has been following the music that Chris Carraba has exquisitely given life. Known for his unplugged performance, frontman Chris will be gracing the stage this March to end this rocking lineup.

End the first quarter of 2012 with a bang, and witness a rock fusion like never before. SMASH Project 2012 live in Manila on March 8, 2012 at the SMART Araneta Coliseum. Tickets available on sale on the 24th of December, 2011. Ticket prices: Patron Standing: Php 4,500, Lower Box: Php 3,500, Upper A: Php 2,500, Upper B: Php 1,000 and Gen Ad: Php 500. This event is brought to you by DAYLY Entertainment.
